Arsenal target Denis Suarez turns down West Ham transfer

Denis Suarez has rejected the chance to join West Ham after the Hammers lodged a £20million transfer offer for his services, reports say.

The Barcelona midfielder is wanted by Arsenal this January and is believed to be edging closer to sealing a loan move to the Emirates.

Unai Emery wants a reunion with his former pupil, and thinks Suarez can add some extra quality to his Arsenal squad.

But the Sun claim West Ham have failed in a bid to hijack Arsenal’s move for Suarez.

Barcelona want Arsenal to commit to a £20m fee in January or in the summer, but the Gunners are struggling to come up with the cash this month.

West Ham offered to pay the asking price upfront, but Suarez has told Barcelona he only wants to move to Arsenal.

The 25-year-old has even told Barcelona he will stay at the club for the rest of the season if he is denied a switch to Arsenal.

Suarez has been on the fringes of Barcelona’s squad for most of the season, and was dropped from the matchday squad that took on Getafe on Sunday.
